Herbert Jones (shoulder) will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery.
Jones is set to miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder. The Pelicans expect him to make a full recovery. Javonte Green should see additional playing time for the rest of the year in Jones’ absence, though he’s merely a fantasy option in deeper formats.
Herb Jones (shoulder) will “likely be shut down for the rest of the season,” according to Pelicans executive vice president David Griffin.
Jones was diagnosed with a posterior labrum tear in his right shoulder in early January and has been sidelined since then. New Orleans is currently 12-41 and has the second-worst record in the league. There is no reason for them to rush Jones back since they currently sit 15 games out of the postseason. Jordan Hawkins and Brandon Boston Jr. will continue to play large roles on the wing. There is no reason to think that Jones won’t be ready to start the 2025-26 season.
Herb Jones has been diagnosed with a posterior labrum tear in his right shoulder and is out indefinitely.
Already struggling with injuries and poor play, the Pelicans will be without their best defender for the foreseeable future. Jones’ absence will result in more playing time for Javonte Green, who is only worth a look in deep leagues. With Zion Williamson available for Friday’s game against the 76ers, Green may start at small forward, with Zion replacing Jeremiah Robinson-Earl in the lineup. Brandon Boston Jr. is another player in line for more minutes, offering a higher fantasy ceiling than Green.
Herb Jones (right shoulder strain) and Trey Murphy III (left ankle sprain) have been ruled out of Friday’s matchup with the 76ers.
Jones left Wednesday’s matchup with Portland early due to the injury, and he’ll be out for at least one game. Murphy III will miss a third straight game, and with Brandon Ingram out and Dejounte Murray questionable, guys like Brandon Boston Jr., Jose Alvarado and Jordan Hawkins will be relied on to step up. Zion Williamson is off the injury report, and he could see substantial usage as well.
