ESPN’s Shams Charania reports the Timberwolves have signed Bones Hyland to a two-way contract.
The 26th overall pick in the 2021 draft, Hyland has struggled to establish himself as a pro. After beginning this season with the Clippers, he was waived by the Hawks after being acquired at the February trade deadline. While Hyland is unlikely to impact fantasy basketball in Minnesota, he reunites with the executive (Tim Connelly) who drafted him in Denver.
The Hawks will waive Bones Hyland after acquiring him at the trade deadline.
Hyland was dealt to Atlanta as part of the trade that sent Bogdan Bogdanovic to the Clippers, but it’s now clear that the Hawks were more interested in Terance Mann. Hyland is still only 24 years old and may be able to find a team that wants to take a chance on him. However, Atlanta won’t be that organization.
Bones Hyland will not make his Hawks debut against the Bucks on Friday.
Hyland won’t notch his first game with Atlanta ahead of the weekend. The former Clippers guard isn’t available for an unspecified reason and will get another chance to contribute off the bench against the Wizards on Satuday.
According to a report from ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Clippers are sending Bones Hyland and Terrance Mann to the Hawks in exchange for Bogdan Bogdanovic and three second-round picks.
Atlanta has long needed some legitimate primary ball handlers aside from Trae Young and Hyland can provide that. It’s unclear how involved he’ll be behind on offensive engine like Young, but his fantasy value will go up after notching DNP-CD’s regularly with the Clippers all season.
