Naji Marshall amassed 23 points (9-of-14 FGs, 3-of-4 FTs), four rebounds, eight assists, one steal and two three-pointers in 36 minutes in Wednesday’s loss to the Lakers.
There haven’t been many positives for the Mavericks since they decided to trade Luka Doncic. However, Marshall’s play has been one of them. Replacing Spencer Dinwiddie (5/3/4 with one three-pointer in 29 minutes) in the starting lineup for matchup reasons, the 23 points were the most he’s scored since March 25, when he dropped 38 against the Knicks. Marshall’s offensive output has been a bit inconsistent since that performance, but he still managed to provide solid stat lines. Dallas is closing in on the 10-seed in the West, which would mean a trip to Sacramento for a play-in tournament game next week.

Marshall is the lone change in the Mavericks’ starting lineup, replacing Spencer Dinwiddie. The move was made for defensive reasons, as Naji gives Dallas a bigger option to place on Luka Doncic.
