Wizards assigned F Saddiq Bey to the Capital City Go Go of the G League.
Bey tore his ACL over a year ago and hasn’t played an NBA game since March 10, 2024. The G League assignment means he’s likely nearing a return, but it’s unclear if he’ll see any game action with the parent club this season. If Bey sees the court before the end of the 2024-25 campaign, he will surely be on a minutes restriction and not worth a look in fantasy basketball leagues.
Saddiq Bey has agreed to a three-year, $20 million deal with the Wizards, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Atlanta didn’t make Bey a restricted free agent, which means that they won’t have a chance to match this offer. Bey will likely miss a lot of time to start next season, but he should be a solid depth forward once he’s back in the rotation. However, it’s difficult to imagine him providing much fantasy value without being in a starting role.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Hawks will not issue a qualifying offer to Saddiq Bey, making him an unrestricted free agent.
Bey’s qualifying offer was worth $8 million, so the Hawks declining it is unsurprising given the current circumstances. Bey suffered a torn ACL in March and is facing a lengthy rehabilitation period. He’ll be an unrestricted free agent on June 30, and while a return to Atlanta is not off the table, the chances have decreased. Atlanta selected Zaccharie Risacher with the first overall pick and acquired Dyson Daniels in the trade that sent Dejounte Murray to New Orleans.
Saddiq Bey will miss the rest of the season with a torn left ACL, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
With Jalen Johnson banged up and Onyeka Okongwu sidelined, De’Andre Hunter figures to see a big uptick in playing time and production moving forward. Vit Krejci could be in line for additional playing time, but he’s done little in two recent starts. Garrison Mathews and Wesley Matthews could also absorb some of Bey’s minutes, but neither of them are appealing streamers, and they can remain on the waiver wire.
