The Raptors signed Fernando as a free agent in the offseason and his contract would’ve been guaranteed for the rest of the season if he wasn’t waived Tuesday. This move was made for Toronto to have more cap space and roster flexibility ahead of next month’s trade deadline as the team saved $1 million and opened up a roster spot.

With Jakob Poeltl and Kelly Olynyk available, it’s unlikely that Fernando will receive enough rotation minutes to make an impact if he can play.

Fernando will be sidelined for this game, but he isn’t part of their typical rotation. With Jakob Poeltl also back, Fernando’s absence will not impact fantasy basketball.
