Mo Williams

Williams last played for the Cavaliers during the 2015-16 season, where he averaged 8.2 points and 2.4 assists across 18.2 minutes per game while shooting 43.7 percent from the field and 35.3 percent from beyond the arc. While Williams' presence as a veteran could help out a number of teams, his statistics over the past few seasons have been far from eye-popping.

This is a peculiar move seeing how Denver already has a pretty big logjam at the guard position. Williams figures to have no real role with the Nuggets, similar to long-time veteran Mike Miller already has with the team. Williams slots in behind Mudiay, Nelson and Murray on the depth chart. With all that being said, it's expected that Denver will actually waive Williams for salary cap purposes.

Well, that was quick... the 76ers waived Mo Williams less than two hours after claiming him off of waivers. By claiming Williams off of waivers and then waiving him, Philadelphia is now 2.2 million dollars closer to the salary floor and the fact that they made such a move means that Denver does not get the 2.2 million dollars towards their salary cap. This move is a really confusing deal on the surface but all you need to know is that Mo Williams isn't suiting up for an NBA team anytime soon but his cap number continues to be a huge asset for teams looking to get to the salary floor.

Despite not playing at all this season and being traded twice within the last week or so, Williams has been claimed off of waivers by Philadelphia after he was waived by the Nuggets. Williams seems to be unlikely to actually suit up for the 76ers as he was likely claimed to get the team closer to the minimum salary cap.
