After being cut by the Bucks earlier this month, the 28-year-old point guard was unlikely to secure much more than a training-camp invite from an NBA team, so he'll head overseas and take a deal that presumably nets him more guaranteed money. Jennings' contract with the Russian club likely contains an opt-out clause that would allow him to return to the NBA at some point in 2018-19, so he could resurface in North America later in the season if a team wants to add experienced depth to its backcourt. Jennings suited up in 14 games at the NBA level over the past campaign, averaging 5.2 points, 3.1 assists and 2.2 rebounds in 14.6 minutes per contest.

The Bucks waited until the final day to make a decision on Jennings' contract, which included an August 1 guarantee date. Milwaukee will let the former first-round pick walk as a free agent after he spent the latter part of last season back where his NBA career began in 2009. Jennings appeared in only 14 games for the Bucks, logging 14.6 minutes per contest and averaging 5.2 points and 3.1 assists per game. While the Bucks don't have room for Jennings on their roster, the 28-year-old will look elsewhere to fill a backup role on what would likely be a minimum or partially guaranteed contract.

It was originally reported that Jennings wouldn't be waived Sunday, which meant his $2.2 million contract would then guarantee. However, it appears the Bucks have simply bought themselves more time on a decision and are moving the date back. With the likes of Eric Bledsoe, Matthew Dellavedova and Malcolm Brogdon still on the roster, Milwaukee wouldn't have much trouble replacing the 14.6 minutes per game Jennings averaged a season ago. According to Marc J. Spears of ESPN, the new date for Jennings' guarantee decision will be Aug. 1.

Jennings signed a pair of 10-day contracts with the Bucks in March of last season, playing well enough during that stretch of games to be inked to a deal for the rest of the season. That included a non-guaranteed salary for the upcoming campaign as well, which the Bucks will now opt into. That means Jennings should be back in a reserve capacity after averaging 5.2 points, 3.1 assists and 2.2 rebounds across 14.6 minutes in 14 games. The Bucks still have the likes of Eric Bledsoe, Matthew Dellavedova and Malcolm Brogdon in the backcourt, so Jennings will likely have a hard time becoming fantasy relevant.
