Illawarra confirmed that the injury ends Brooks' season, and the 34-year-old noted in his Instagram post that he would "begin the second phase of his life," likely spelling an end to his 13-year playing career. Along with stops in Australia and China, Brooks appeared in 645 regular-season contests at the NBA level between the Rockets, Suns, Kings, Nuggets, Bulls, Pacers and Timberwolves. He averaged 9.7 points, 3.0 assists and 1.7 rebounds in 20.8 minutes in those games.

With Jeff Teague (knee) out of action, Brooks saw a rare allotment of appreciable minutes behind starter Tyus Jones, his most since Jan. 8. The 10-year veteran parlayed them into a season-high scoring total despite some spotty shooting, but the surge is likely to be short-lived. Prior to Sunday, Brooks had seen the floor for a grand total of just 14 minutes since the All-Star break, and that's likely to be the norm once again as soon as Teague returns to action.

Brooks was held out of the team's previous game Thursday in Portland due to a personal issue, and his status was never clarified prior to Friday's contest. Considering Brooks isn't a part of the regular rotation, it's unclear if he was available, but the veteran should be back with the team for its next game Thursday versus Boston following an unusually long, five-day layoff.

No specific reason has been given for his absence and it's unclear if he will miss more than one contest. However, given he's played a combined two minutes in the past two games, his absence shouldn't affect the team's rotation.
