Alexey Shved
Player News
Alexey Shved may leave Russia for the NBA "if he gets serious proposals," according to the GM of Khimki, his current team.
Shved reportedly turned down offers from four teams in 2018, in favor of playing in Russia, but could be lured back to the NBA if he's convinced he'll have a solid role. He's currently the star player for Khimki, and at age 31 it's unlikely many NBA teams would be willing to guarantee him a big role, so this will likely amount to nothing.
Update: Alexey Shved signed a three-year contract with the Russian club Khimki Moscow.
Shved returns to Russia after three years in the NBA where he proved he can't shoot. His contract has an opt-out for an NBA team, but we'd be surprised to see one give him a shot.
Alexey Shved has turned down an offer from the Knicks and is weighing a return to Europe.
This is the third offer that Shved has turned down from the Knicks indicating that none have gotten to the number that he wants, $2.8 million. Previously a member of both Philadelphia and Houston last season, it was thought that Shved would return to Europe and that's why Houston traded him to the Knicks. It could be a ploy to get New York to up the offer but according to Phil Jackson they are looking for a backup Center at this point.
Alexey Shved did not receive a qualifying offer from the Knicks.
Shved impressed during his short time in New York, but the team is expected to go after some higher profile players during free agency. Shved will likely be a backup guard where ever he lands this July.
