According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Thaddeus Young will sign with the Phoenix Suns.
Young spent the last two seasons with the Raptors and contributed meaningfully when needed. He’s unlikely to play a significant role with Phoenix, as he’ll be behind starters Kevin Durant and Jusuf Nurkic and competing for backup minutes with the likes of Bol Bol, Drew Eubanks and Udoka Azubuike.
The Nets will waive Thad Young according to The NY Post’s Brian Lewis.
There’s no actionable fantasy advice with this move. Young might be able to provide value in deeper leagues if he lands with the right team.
Thaddeus Young has been traded to Brooklyn as part of the Spencer Dinwiddie/Dennis Schroder trade, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Young is heading back to Brooklyn, which is where he played to close out the 2014-15 season and for the entirety of the 2015-16 season. Young was able to provide solid value when Jakob Poeltl was sidelined, but he hasn’t been part of the rotation for most of this season. He will be a solid depth piece for the Nets, but he will likely be too far down the pecking order in the frontcourt to retain standard league value.
Thaddeus Young started the second half against Memphis on Monday and finished with 12 points (5-of-8 FGs), six rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Young has seen a few starts since Jakob Poeltl went down, but Jontay Porter has been the starteras of late. However, Porter briefly exited this game after getting poked in the eye. He was cleared to return, but he didn’t play in the second half at all. Young started the second half in his place and posted a solid line. If Poeltl remains out for their next game on Friday, we’ll see if Porter continues to start. We’ll also see if he goes back to played 15-20 minutes per game, which would prevent Young from repeating this performance.
