The Golden State Warriors announced Friday that Mike Dunleavy Jr. has officially been promoted to the position of General Manager.

It didn't take too long for the Warriors to find Bob Myers' replacement and they didn't have to look very far. Dunleavy Jr. originally joined the Warriors front office in 2018-19 as a pro scout after a 15-year playing career. He served as vice president of basketball operations for the past two seasons and also served two years as assistant GM. Myers will continue in his role as president of basketball operations/general manager until June 30th. At that point, the keys to the ship are all Dunleavy's.

Dunleavy was waived by the Hawks on Friday, Chris Vivlamore of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

As expected, Dunleavy was let go by the Hawks in an attempt avoid his guaranteed contract before the 12:01AM deadline on Saturday. After joining Atlanta mid-season following a stint with Cleveland, Dunleavy shot nearly 43 percent from long range. He will likely draw interested from playoff-bound teams as a veteran sharpshooter off the pine.

Dunleavy is expected to be waived prior to the start of free agency, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The veteran's contract for next season becomes guaranteed if he's not waived before July 1, so the Hawks will likely proceed with that move prior to 12:01AM on Saturday. After beginning last season with the Cavaliers, Dunleavy came to Atlanta as part of the Kyle Korver trade and went on to appear in 30 games for the Hawks, averaging 5.6 points and 2.3 rebounds, while shooting nearly 43 percent from beyond the arc. While he's well past his prime at age 36, Dunleavy will likely draw interest from playoff-caliber teams as a shooting specialist off the bench.

Dunleavy contributed 20 points (6-9 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), one rebound, one assist and one steal across 20 minutes during Friday's 114-100 victory over the Cavaliers.

With Thabo Sefolosha (groin) and Kent Bazemore (knee) sidelined due to injury, Dunleavy was asked to play 20 minutes off the bench against his former team. In response, he tied his season-high of 20 points while drilling four of his five three-point attempts. He had been shooting poorly in the seven games leading up to Friday, averaging 2.6 points across 13.9 minutes per game while hitting only 33.3 percent of his attempts. But, the matchup against his former team seemed to drive him to perform above and beyond his recent averages. That being said, he probably shouldn't hastily be added to fantasy rosters as a result of his impressive outing, considering that he'll probably lose playing time to both Sefolosha and Bazemore once they return.
