Zeller did not appear in any games for the Hawks this season before he was traded to the Rockets at the February deadline. He has not joined his new team, and the expectation is this won’t change before the end of the season. Given Houston’s frontcourt depth, Zeller was unlikely to crack the rotation if he did join the team. His continued absence will not impact fantasy basketball, but trading the veteran center did get the Hawks under the luxury tax.

Zeller was sent to the Hawks as part of the Dejounte Murray deal this past summer, but he never joined the team. He’ll now be dealt to the Rockets, but it wouldn’t be surprising if he was bought out. If not, he’ll provide some center depth, but he won’t play enough to impact fantasy basketball. The second-round pick is actually Houston’s that is being sent back to them.

The reported Murray trade is official, with Atlanta receiving four players and two future first-round picks (2025 via LAL, 2027 via MIL or NOR). Zeller, who was a free agent, is headed to the Hawks via sign-and-trade, joining Dyson Daniels, Larry Nance Jr., and EJ Liddell. Zeller did not offer much fantasy value in New Orleans, and that’s unlikely to change due to the Hawks’ surplus of big men. And that would remain the case if Clint Capela, whose name has come up in trade rumors, moves on.
