Vitor Faverani
Player News
Boston will release center Vitor Faverani.
His meniscus injury has lingered and as the number five option at center on the depth chart, it is an easy decision to make at this point in the season.
Celtics were hopeful Vitor Faverani (knee) could return to practice by mid-December but that now looks like it could be a stretch.
Faverani underwent knee surgery to repair inflammation and evaluate the meniscus in September. Initially he had hoped to be back in 6-8 weeks, but it\'s already been well past that time table and he\'s yet to make much progress. He will take the rehabilitation process slowly, as this is his second knee surgery within the year. At best he could be back by late December.
Vitor Faverani (knee) said there is no timetable for his return.
Faverini is speaking for the first time to media since undergoing knee surgery to repair inflammation and evaluate the meniscus last month, and says he has yet to return to basketball activities. He plans to take the rehabilitation process slowly and cautiously, as this is his second knee surgery is one year. Boston has hoped to have him back after 6-8 weeks, but already six weeks have elapsed, and Faverani will not be back in two weeks. Hopefully he can begin running next week, and perhaps in a month or so be back to help the Celtics.
Vitor Faverani had surgery Monday in Spain to clean up inflammation and to evaluate meniscus. It will be a 6-8 week recovery.
Faverani will miss the beginning of the regular season give the timetable and it could be longer depending on his rehab schedule and how quickly he heals. This is his second surgery on the same knee as the first one obviously didn\'t do what it was supposed to do, so he\'ll have to be evaluated steadily to monitor his progress.
