Vince Carter announced his retirement on Thursday.

Carter's career comes to an end after 22 seasons. He was Rookie of the Year in 1999, made eight All-Star teams, and was one of the best dunkers in the history of the sport. He was also one of the best veteran mentors in the league, adding to his professional longevity, and we anticipate seeing more of him in various NBA roles in years to come. In their statement about his retirement, the Hawks wrote, "It’s an honor to the Hawks organization that he completed his Hall-of-Fame career wearing Atlanta across his chest and representing our city.”

Carter notched three points during Wednesday's 127-105 loss at the Cavaliers.

Carter has posted single-scoring efforts in three straight games and while he has logged double-digit minutes in 10 of his last 12 outings off the bench, that hasn't translated to decent scoring figures. The veteran is averaging just 6.3 points per game on 39.7 shooting from the field during that stretch, and he shouldn't have a lot of upside even if the deepest formats.

Carter delivered 14 points (4-8 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds, two blocks and one steal in 24 minutes off the bench during Thursday's 127-117 win over the Sixers.

Carter hasn't played much of a role for the Hawks this season and has been struggling to get playing time -- he rarely sees over 20 minutes of action and even when he does, he's not a lock for guaranteed scoring figures. As a result, Carter should remain on waivers until further notice, even if he has decent scoring performances from time to time.

Carter had 17 points (7-11 FG, 3-6 3PT), two assists, one rebound and one block in 20 minutes off the bench during Sunday's 122-107 win at Charlotte.

Carter reached the 20-minute plateau for the second time this season, and scored in double figures just for the third time. The veteran small forward might not have much left in the tank, but he can still produce when given enough minutes. Unfortunately, that won't be enough to make him fantasy relevant unless he can see a drastic uptick on his playing time moving forward.
