Skal Labissière

With starting center Domantas Sabonis (hamstring) out at least one week, the Kings needed another body in the frontcourt. Enter Labissiere, who was in training camp with the Kings and has been playing for their G League affiliate. He’s averaging 15.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in Stockton this season, but it will take a lot for Labissiere to achieve fantasy relevance with Sabonis sidelined.

A first-round pick in 2016, Labissiere last played in the NBA in 2020, spending time in the G League. He spent last season with Sacramento’s G League affiliate in Stockton, which may also be his fate this time. The Exhibit 10 deal can guarantee him more money ($77,500) should the Kings waive him during training camp, and he goes on to spend at least 60 days with their G League affiliate.

Labissiere has spent the last two seasons in the G League, and that’s the reason for the two reported transactions that the Kings will execute. Signing and then waiving the power forward will secure Labissiere’s G League rights, so expect to see him spend most (if not all) of next season with the Stockton Kings.

The 28th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, Labissiere is returning to the city where he began his NBA career (Sacramento acquired his draft rights from the Suns). The former Kentucky big man was unable to establish himself in the NBA, and he has spent his last two professional seasons in the G League. Labissiere is unlikely to be a fantasy asset next season, regardless of league size.
