Shaquille Harrison
Player News
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Grizzlies have signed Shaquille Harrison and Jaylen Nowell to 10-day contracts.
The Grizzlies have been hit hard by injuries this season, and that doesn’t even take into consideration Ja Morant’s 25-game suspension. So the NBA awarded the franchise two 10-day contract hardship waivers, which they have used on Harrison and Nowell. Neither is a must-add in most leagues right now, but Harrison is the one to keep an eye on due to his defensive potential.
The Grizzlies have waived Shaquille Harrison, Adonis Arms, and David Johnson.
With these moves, the Grizzlies have finalized their Opening Night roster. Harrison was the most experienced of the trio as far as NBA action was concerned, but there wasn’t room on the roster despite Memphis not having Ja Morant for the first 25 games of the regular season. The exits of Harrison, Arms, and Johnson will not impact fantasy basketball.
The Grizzlies announced on Thursday that they have signed Shaquille Harrison.
With the Grizzlies already having 17 players on guaranteed contracts for the 2023-24 campaign (teams are only allowed 15 once the regular season begins), it’s likely that Harrison is joining the team on an Exhibit 10 contract. A six-year veteran of the NBA, the former Tulsa standout has suited up for six different franchises. Harrison appeared in five games for the Blazers last season, averaging 8.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 2.2 steals in 24.0 minutes. Even with Ja Morant suspended for the first 25 games of the season, Harrison faces a difficult fight to make the Grizzlies’ opening night roster. His status will not impact fantasy basketball.
According to ESPN's Dave McMenamin, the Lakers are signing Shaquille Harrison.
McMenamin's signing comes one day after his 10-day contract with Portland expired. While much won't be expected of him offensively, he can give the Lakers a needed boost on the perimeter from a defensive standpoint. Given the timing, it's obvious this transaction won't impact fantasy basketball.
