Kristaps Porzingis finished Sunday’s Game 4 win over the Magic with 19 points (7-of-14 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), 5 rebounds, one assist, one steal and two three-pointers in 22 minutes.
Porzingis bounced back from a low-scoring Game 3 with his second double-digit outing of the series. The performance included two three-pointers, which were the first of the opening round for the nine-year veteran center. With Porzingis finding his touch from beyond the arc, perhaps he’ll sustain his rhythm in Tuesday’s Game 5 in Boston, where the Celtics will look to close out the series.
Kristaps Porzingis (head) amassed 20 points (5-of-14 FGs, 10-of-14 FTs), 10 rebounds, two steals and two blocks in 34 minutes in Wednesday’s Game 2 win over the Magic.
After shooting 1-of-8 from the field in Game 1 on Sunday, Porzingis rebounded in a big way on Wednesday. With no Jayson Tatum (wrist) in the lineup, the Celtics needed more from the 7-foot-3 forward/center, and he took full advantage of the foul line. It’s good that he did, as Porzingis missed all five of his three-point attempts. He also suffered a cut on his forehead during the third quarter due to a Goga Bitadze forearm. Porzingis did return early in the fourth quarter after getting the cut (and his scalp) cleaned up, so he should be good to go for Friday’s Game 3 in Orlando.
Kristaps Porzingis (conditioning) and Al Horford (knee) are out against the Hornets on Sunday.
Porzingis and Horford will not play in Sunday’s regular season finale; Boston’s top six players will all sit. Luke Kornet and Neemias Queta should play plenty since the result of Sunday’s game has no bearing on the team’s playoff seeding.
Kristaps Porzingis led the Celtics with 34 points (11-of-19 FGs), four rebounds, three assists, one steal, one block and eight three-pointers in a 119-117 overtime win over the Knicks on Thursday.
Porzingis matched both his season-high for scoring and career-high for threes in Thursday’s overtime win. In fact, he also had exactly 34 points and eight threes in a win over Chicago in January. This was the fourth time in his career that Porzingis has hit eight triples in a game. He hasn’t played in a back-to-back yet this season, and managers shouldn’t expect that to start after Boston has already secured the No. 2 seed in the East. Porzingis will likely sit out against Orlando on Wednesday, which will open up minutes for Luke Kornet.
