Jamal Murray amassed 21 points (9-of-19 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs), eight rebounds, eight assists, three blocks and two three-pointers in 44 minutes in a Game 6 loss to the Clippers on Thursday.
After torching the Clippers in Game 5, regardless of who was assigned to him defensively, Murray was held in check in Game 6. A significant reason was the change made by Clippers coach Tyronn Lue, who gave Kawhi Leonard the task of defending Murray to begin Thursday’s contest. While the final stat line was solid, the Nuggets guard was made to work much harder than he did in Denver’s victory on Tuesday. Murray will need to be at his best in Game 7 on Saturday night. While home teams are 110-37 all-time in Game 7, the road team has won eight of the last 12.
Jamal Murray had a dominant Game 5 performance in the Nuggets’ win over the Clippers on Tuesday, tallying 43 points (17-of-26 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs), five rebounds, seven assists, three steals, one block and eight three-pointers.
Fresh off a series-low 13 points in Game 4, Murray exploded for a series-high on Tuesday. He totaled nearly as many three-pointers in this game as he had in the previous four combined, while still managing to dish out seven assists. Murray got hot early in this one and never cooled off, and now has provided his Nuggets the opportunity on Thursday in Game 6 to eliminate the Clippers for the second time in the last five seasons.
Jamal Murray amassed 23 points (8-of-15 FGs, 6-of-6 FTs), four assists, one steal and one three-pointer in 36 minutes in Thursday’s Game 3 loss to the Clippers.
Murray has scored 21 points or more in all three games of this series, shooting over 50 percent from the field in Games 2 and 3. Unfortunately for him and the Nuggets, Thursday’s stat line was recorded in a 34-point defeat. Murray has recorded at least three turnovers in all three games. While the lackluster performances from some of his teammates were more significant issues in Game 3, the Nuggets don’t have much margin for error in a series they now trail two games to one. Game 4 is on Saturday.
Jamal Murray lit up the Clippers with 23 points (9-of-17 FGs), two rebounds, six assists, one steal, one block and four three-pointers in Game 2 on Monday.
Murray struggled with his shot in Game 1 but was able to improve his shooting efficiency in Game 2. However, that wasn’t enough to help Denver defend their homecourt. Murray was able to make a strong impact and hit a triple to tie the game at 100 with 2:07 left in the fourth. However, that ended up being his final shot attempt of the night. The Nuggets ceded homecourt advantage by losing this game, and they’ll need to win one of the next two games to get it back. Game 3 will be in Los Angeles on Thursday.
