Jalen Brunson had 40 points (15-of-33 FGs), four rebounds, seven assists and three three-pointers in the Knicks 116-113 victory over the Pistons in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference playoffs on Thursday.
Jalen Brunson (ankle) finished Tuesday’s Game 5 loss to the Pistons with 16 points (4-of-16 FGs, 7-of-10 FTs), three rebounds, seven assists and one three-pointer in 36 minutes.
Harassed by Pistons defensive ace Ausar Thompson for most of his time on the court, Brunson shot 3-of-12 from inside the arc in Game 5. Making matters worse was the Knicks’ point guard aggravating his right ankle injury late in the fourth quarter. With New York trailing by two when Brunson and Josh Hart had to exit due to injuries, the Pistons extended their lead to six before the two starters returned to the game with 27.1 seconds remaining. There’s no doubt that Brunson will do his best to play through the ankle injury. But it becomes more concerning the longer this series lasts. Game 6 is on Thursday in Detroit.
Jalen Brunson racked up 32 points (13-of-26 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs) with five rebounds, 11 assists, a block, and four three-pointers against the Pistons on Sunday.
Brunson had an injury scare in the third quarter but was crucial in the final frame when his team secured a comeback victory. The star point guard scored 14 points in the fourth quarter to help New York edge out Detroit in a low-scoring contest. He’s scored at least 30 points in every game of the first-round series.
Jalen Brunson (ankle) returned from injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against the Pistons.
Brunson is back on the hardwood after spending the final two minutes of the third quarter in the locker room with an ankle injury. He checked back roughly two minutes into the fourth quarter and will look to fuel his team’s comeback.
