A former 2017 second-round pick, Rabb was cut in advance of the Jan. 15 deadline for NBA teams to bring in other players on a two-way deals. Based on the decision to cut Rabb, the Knicks evidently didn't feel he offered as much long-term upside as undrafted big man Kenny Wooten, who will claim the vacant two-way spot. Rabb failed to appear in any game for the Knicks this season but averaged 13.1 points and 11.1 rebounds per game with the G League's Westchester Knicks before missing the affiliate's last two contests with the ailment.

A few days after the Grizzlies waived the 2017 second-round pick, Rabb has found a new home, as the Knicks were searching for power-forward depth behind Julius Randle and Bobby Portis. Rabb will likely fluctuate between the NBA and the G League depending on the health of Randle and Portis this season.

Rabb averaged 5.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per game in his first two seasons in Memphis. The Grizzlies are now opting to go in another direction in terms of reserve big men.

Rabb is away from the team for personal reasons, though he figures to return to the squad within the next few days.
