Canaan signed a 10-day contract with the Bucks on Monday.
Canaan quickly found a new home after his second 10-day deal with the Timberwolves ran out. He'll join a Bucks team in need of backcourt depth thanks to injuries to George Hill (groin), Sterling Brown (wrist) and Donte DiVincenzo (heel). Across 26 games between stops at Phoenix and Minnesota, Canaan is averaging 6.7 points, 3.1 assists and 2.1 rebounds in 23.0 minutes this season.
Canaan signed another 10-day contract with the Wolves on Saturday, Mike Scotto of The Athletic reports.
Canaan has provided much-needed depth at point guard amid of number of recent injuries, so the Wolves will keep him around for at least another week-and-a-half while Derrick Rose, Jerryd Bayless and Tyus Jones all continue to nurse injuries. Canaan started Friday's loss to New Orleans, finishing with 12 points and five assists in 31 minutes.
Canaan started at point guard and put up 12 points (4-9 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five assists, two rebounds and two steals in 31 minutes Friday in the Timberwolves' 122-117 loss to the Pelicans.
Canaan moved up to the top unit out of necessity, as the Timberwolves were down to only two healthy point guards. The lone other available option, Jeff Teague (foot), was limited to 17 minutes off the bench while returning from an eight-game absence of his own, but there's a good chance he'll take back the starting gig and pick up more playing time in the Timberwolves' next contest Monday versus the Clippers. That would obviously represent a negative development for Canaan, though he could still stick in interim coach Ryan Saunders' rotation in the event all of Derrick Rose (ankle), Tyus Jones (ankle) and Jerryd Bayless (toe) remain sidelined.
