Harry Giles
Player News
Harry Giles III has agreed to a contract with the Hornets, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Giles spent the end of last season on a two-way deal with the Lakers, and now he will have a chance to make Charlotte’s roster. The former first round pick hasn’t ever found his footing in the NBA, and even if he ends up remaining with the Hornets to start next season, he won’t impact fantasy basketball.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Lakers have signed Harry Giles III to a two-way contract.
Waived by the Nets after the trade deadline, Giles did not see much action during his time in Brooklyn. That’s likely to be the case with the Lakers, although there is a potential path to minutes due to the absences of Christian Wood and Colin Castleton. Wood was on the back end of the rotation when healthy, and Castleton wasn’t a consistent option, so fantasy managers should not expect too much from Giles. To free up a two-way slot, the Lakers have waived Dylan Windler.
The Nets waived Harry Giles III on Thursday, per Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes.
Giles hasn’t played a large role this season, so this won’t have much of an impact on their rotation. However, this does open up a roster spot for them.
Harry Giles got the start on Thursday and contributed 16 points (8-for-10 FGs), 10 rebounds and one steal against Maccabi Ra’anana.
Giles signed a one-year deal with the Nets this off-season, and he got the starting nod in this game with Nicolas Claxton and Day’Ron Sharpe both out. He took advantage of the opportunity and recorded a double-double. The former top player in the 2016 high school class hasn’t been able to figure things out in the NBA, but he could find a home in Brooklyn if he keeps this up. However, it’s unlikely that he ever plays as much as he did in this game.
