Donovan Mitchell impressed in the Cavaliers’ Game 2 win over the Heat on Wednesday, finishing with 30 points (10-of-21 FGs, 3-of-4 FTs), six rebounds, six assists, one steal and seven three-pointers.
Mitchell closed the show for the Cavaliers in Game 2, producing multiple baskets down the stretch to help the Cavaliers secure a 2-0 series lead. His 20-second-half points were particularly impressive, as were his contributions from beyond the arc. Mitchell will have the opportunity to reach 30 points for the third straight time this series when the Cavaliers take on the Heat Saturday in Game 3.
Donovan Mitchell shot 11-of-19 from the field and 6-of-7 from the foul line in Sunday’s Game 1 win over the Heat, scoring 30 points with five rebounds, four assists, four steals and two three-pointers in 33 minutes.
Donovan Mitchell (ankle) and De’Andre Hunter (rest) have been ruled out for Friday’s game against the Knicks.
Mitchell is still recovering from the ankle injury that’s caused him to miss his team’s last two games. Hunter will get the night off after helping the undermanned Cavs battle the Pacers on Thursday. Craig Porter Jr. and Isaac Okoro could be called upon to step up as starters or featured reserves on Friday.
Donovan Mitchell (ankle) is out for Tuesday’s game against the Bulls.
Mitchell sprained his left ankle during the third quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Kings. While he did return later in the quarter, there’s no reason for the Cavaliers not to give their star guard a night off. Sam Merrill was Mitchell’s replacement the last time he missed a game, which may be the case on Tuesday. While this would boost Merrill’s fantasy value slightly, he is not a must-stream player.
