Cristiano Felicio
Player News
The Bulls have renounced their rights to Cristiano Felicio.
They're essentially waiving Felicio, who will now be searching for a minimum-level deal elsewhere. Wherever he winds up, he'll be safe to ignore in fantasy hoops.
Cristiano Felicio was the only DNP for Chicago on Friday.
Joel Embiid got whatever he wanted tonight and reserve centers Luke Kornet and Daniel Gafford both got a few minutes to spell Wendell Carter Jr. The fact that Felicio didn't play at all says plenty about how coach Billy Donovan views his role, or lack thereof.
With Wendell Carter Jr. out for a few weeks, Billy Donovan says he might have to work Cristiano Felicio into his center rotation.
"If you look at Wendell's injury and he and Gaff (Daniel Gafford) kind of sharing, for the most part, those minutes with Lauri (Markkanen) playing in the five (center), you're going to have to possibly look at Cris (Felicio) as well in that group," Donovan said. Felicio has only appeared in two games this season but with WCJ out and Lauri being too small to defend centers, it might be good for the Bulls to utilize Felicio a bit more against teams that play two bigs.
Felicio finished with 12 points (5-6 FG, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds and one assist in 22 minutes off the bench Wednesday in the Bulls' 117-110 win over the Timberwolves.
With both Wendell Carter (ankle) and Daniel Gafford (thumb) sidelined, Felicio has cracked the rotation in six consecutive games and seems to be gradually gaining the trust of coach Jim Boylen. Felicio has logged double-digit minutes in four straight contests and even started in the second half Wednesday, replacing Luke Kornet. It wouldn't be surprising if Felicio drew the start over Kornet on Friday against the Kings, though expect a fairly equitable timeshare to remain in place between the two in any case.
