Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Detroit Pistons are signing Cheick Diallo to a 10-day contract.

Diallo last appeared in the NBA for the Suns in 2019, during which he averaged 4.7 points in 10.2 minutes per game. He’s been spending some time in the G-League this season and Detroit now has a double dose of Diallo on their roster, but only Hamidou is worth utilizing in fantasy hoops unless the other one quickly Cheicks all the boxes in his NBA stint.

The Suns have declined to pick up their team option on Cheick Diallo for the 2020-21 season.

Diallo has had some nice moments throughout his career when given the opportunity for significant minutes, but his role in the NBA thus far has been more of an emergency depth kind of guy. He shouldn't have much trouble finding another contract, but we don't envision him being an impact player in fantasy hoops this upcoming season.

Cheick Diallo scored two points with five rebounds, one assist and one turnover in 15 minutes against the Blazers on Friday.

Aron Baynes put any position battle to bed with the game of his life, so Diallo is likely looking at 10-15 minutes most nights even with Deandre Ayton out. He's only a deep-league stream.

Diallo came off the bench and played only one minute Friday in the Suns' 118-101 loss to the Raptors. He missed his only field-goal attempt and accrued no other statistics.

Diallo had started the Suns' final two games before the All-Star break and totaled 25 points and 12 boards between the two contests, but he lost his spot on the top unit with Deandre Ayton (ankle) returning to action. Ayton's top backup, Aron Baynes (hip) was also cleared to play following a multi-week absence, resulting in Diallo falling out of the rotation entirely. Diallo's only action came in the final 1:28 of the fourth quarter, when the outcome was already decided.
