ESPN’s Shams Charania reports the Lakers are waiving Cam Reddish to free up a standard contract slot for Jordan Goodwin.
While Goodwin has been part of the Lakers’ rotation this season, Reddish has not. And with it being reported Thursday afternoon that the former was being converted from a two-way to a standard contract, it makes sense that the latter would be waived to free up space. Reddish appeared in 33 games this season, averaging 3.2 points and 2.0 rebounds in 17.8 minutes. It will be interesting to see if he can catch on with a non-contending team before the end of the season.
Cam Reddish (personal) is off the injury report ahead of Wednesday’s game against the Hornets.
Reddish missed a few games prior to the All-Star break with personal reasons. The 25-year-old small forward was a throw-in in the now-rescinded trade with the Hornets that would’ve sent Mark Williams to the Lakers. Los Angeles’ meeting with Charlotte Wednesday is awkward for everyone involved. Reddish had already fallen out of the Lakers’ rotation and won’t be fantasy-relevant as long as he’s stuck in LA.
Cam Reddish (personal) is out for Monday’s game against the Jazz.
Reddish was away from the Lakers for personal reasons before he was included in a trade that would have sent him to Charlotte. That deal has been rescinded due to Mark Williams failing his physical, but Reddish still isn’t ready to rejoin the Lakers. His continued absence does not impact fantasy basketball.
Thursday’s trade between the Hornets and Lakers was rescinded because a condition of the trade was not satisfied.
On Thursday, the Lakers traded Reddish, Dalton Knecht, their 2031 first-round pick, and a 2030 pick swap to the Hornets in exchange for Mark Williams. The trade, conditional on Williams and Knecht reporting to their new teams and passing their physicals, was rescinded on Saturday evening. The failed trade leaves the Lakers in a difficult spot regarding their center rotation. Currently the starting center, Jaxson Hayes is a must-add in fantasy leagues. As for Reddish, he had fallen out of the rotation before the trade, so there may not be much of a future for him in Los Angeles.
