ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that Bojan Bogdanovic will undergo season-ending foot surgery.
Bogdanovic last took the court on April 28, 2024, and he’ll miss the entirety of the 2024-25 campaign. His continued absence will have no impact in the world of fantasy hoops.
Bojan Bogdanovic (left foot surgery) surgery has no timetable for return after undergoing an operation over the offseason.
Bogdanovic has yet to make his Nets debut in 2024-25. It doesn’t appear like he’s close to a return at this point in time so it’s unclear how his availability will affect Brooklyn rotation.
Bojan Bogdanovic (left foot surgery) has not been cleared for 5-on-5 action.
Bogdanovic suffered foot and wrist injuries late last season, ultimately undergoing offseason surgery on both. Now with the Nets after being included in the Mikal Bridges trade, the veteran forward’s wrist is in good condition, but the foot has taken longer to heal. Bogdanovic did say on Monday that he’s been cleared for some on-court work, but not 5-on-5. He was unlikely to be a must-draft player if fully cleared, so Monday’s update does not significantly impact Bogdanovic’s value. He may have value as a streamer during the season, especially for managers needing points.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Nets have acquired Bojan Bogdanovic and multiple draft picks from the Knicks in exchange for Mikal Bridges.
Bogdanovic’s salary for 2024-25 was not fully guaranteed before this deal; that would have to change to make the trade work. More critical for Brooklyn is the draft capital they’ve received: four unprotected first-round picks, another first-rounder via Milwaukee, an unprotected first-round pick swap, and a second-round pick. Given the picks that Brooklyn surrendered in prior trades, restocking the coffers was essential for lead executive Sean Marks. As for Bogdanovic, while he’s been effective in the past as a starter, he’ll be coming off of foot and wrist surgeries when next season begins.
