#24 William Byron was credited with a 31st place DNF in Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series Verizon 200 at Indianapolis Road Course.
He started 23rd on the grid and completed 79 laps of the 86 run before exiting the race (Accident). He is currently 9th in the standings, 235 points behind leader Chase Elliott.
Hendrick Motorsports is sending a backup hauler to Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the No. 24 team after the one transporting the race car caught fire on Thursday.
RACER was told a generator was the cause of the fire, which was observed outside the racetrack. William Byron’s No. 24 Chevrolet was not damaged by the blaze, but the team will work out of the backup hauler. NASCAR is allowing the team to put the car in the garage tonight and also swap out the necessary equipment from the primary hauler.-Racer

While battling for a championship he would earn, Byron became the youngest driver to win a major race at the historic 2.5-mile oval at 19 years, 7 months and 23 days.
