Loveâ??s Travel Stops partner, Martin Transportation Systems (MTS), will mark their return to the No. 34 Front Row Motorsports team and driver Michael McDowell this weekend at the Michigan International Speedway.
McDowell, who has had a career year, is excited to keep the summer momentum rolling with a good finish. With nine top-10 finishes, Michael and his MTS Ford Mustang team are ready to change the fortune of years past at Michigan and continue to build on their season. McDowell had his best run at the track last season, where he finished 20th, but with the recent performance and growth of his team, he is confident on improving on past performances.
Michael McDowell (#34 Ford Mustang) finished 8th Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series Verizon 200 at Indianapolis Road Course.
He started 7th in the lineup and completed all of the 86 run. He is currently 26th in the driver standings, 8 points behind 25th-placed Cole Custer after this event.
For Michael McDowell and the #34 Horizon Hobby team, confidence has been a key to good runs on road courses this season.
Starting off with some frustration at COTA during practice and qualifying, the team quickly found success on race day and their confidence translated to a top-five at Sonoma and a top-10 at Road America. McDowell is now ready to take their success into Indianapolis with winning on his mind. “It’s all about getting a win right now,” said McDowell. “We have been in the playoffs, and we want to be there again. We want to a consistent playoff team and the road courses are giving us a great opportunity. Sonoma was close, we were just off a bit at Road America, but we feel good about this weekend. Indy was good to us last year until the very end. We will not make any errors on Sunday.”
Michael McDowell and the Love's Travel Stops team proved they are a winning threat at road courses. He finished 13th at the Circuit of the Americas and came back to qualify 4th and finish 3rd at the most recent road course race at the Sonoma Raceway.
They have now raised the bar to getting to Victory Lane this weekend in Road America. McDowell, coming off a thirteenth place finish in Nashville, is ready to return to a track where he has won before in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. With only six races left in the regular season, the team knows the time to capitalize is now.-Front Row Motorsports
