Moses Moody led the Warriors with 25 points (9-of-18 FGs), nine rebounds, two assists, two steals, one block and three three-pointers in Game 5 against the Rockets on Wednesday.
Moody was pushed out of his starting role for the last three games, but with Steve Kerr benching his starters early in the third quarter, Moody took on a larger role. He ended up having his highest-scoring performance of the season and helped make the score look a bit more respectable for Golden State in what was an ugly loss. Kerr has never been shy about changing his lineups, so we’ll see if this performance earns Moody more minutes in Game 6 on Friday.
Jimmy Butler struggled on Wednesday and finished with just eight points (2-of-10 FGs), five rebounds, two assists and two steals in Game 5 against the Rockets.
Butler once again played through the pelvic contusion he suffered in Game 2, but he didn’t have as much success as he did in Game 4. That led to head coach Steve Kerr pulling the plug and benching his starters halfway through the third quarter. This was Butler’s worst performance as a Warrior, and they will need him to be much better if they want to close this series out at home in Game 6 on Friday.
Stephen Curry finished with 13 points (4-of-12 FGs), three rebounds, seven assists and three three-pointers in a 131-116 loss to the Rockets in Game 5 on Wednesday.
This was a tough night for the entire team, which led to head coach Steve Kerr benching his starters halfway through the third quarter and Curry failing to reach 20 points for a second straight game. The Warriors’ reserves ended up making the score look a little better, but the Rockets dominated the first half. Houston ended up playing their starters more than the Warriors to avoid the bench comeback, which was exactly what Kerr was hoping for. We’ll see if the extra rest helps Golden State in Game 6 on Friday, where Curry will look to get back on tracj.
William Contreras went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored in a 6-4 win over the White Sox on Wednesday.
Evan in a month where Contreras didn’t exactly live up to his lofty expectations, the approach never changed. With two free passes, he’s drawn two walks in back-to-back games, and his on-base percentage is a very healthy .376 over the first 30 games of 2025. He’s also hit a decent .260 in that timeframe, but fantasy managers are still waiting to see some pop from Contreras on a more consistent basis with just three five -base hits over 107 at-bats. The pop should start showing up, as he’s far too talented a hitter to be slugging just .365 for much longer.
Miguel Vargas went 3-for-4 with an RBI in a loss Wednesday to the Brewers.
Trevor Megill worked around a hit and a walk to get a save against the White Sox on Wednesday.
