Marlins placed LHP Andrew Nardi on the 60-day injured list with lower back inflammation.
Nardi will be on the shelf until at least late May, The 26-year-old lefty has been a key component of Miami’s relief mix over the last two season, racking up 122 appearances during that span.
Andrew Nardi (elbow) has been shut down from throwing due to back tightness.
Nardi was rehabbing from an elbow issue, but the left-hander now will be shut down and be reevaluated in the coming days. A trip to the injured list to begin the 2025 season seems more likely than not at this point.
Marlins manager Clayton McCullough told reporters that Andrew Nardi (elbow) will be behind in spring training to open the year.
McCullough told reporters that something “flared” up with Nardi, and that the team is awaiting clarity before taking the next steps. The 26-year-old missed the final month-plus of 2024 with a muscle injury in his left elbow, but is expected to help the Miami bullpen at some point in 2025.
Marlins signed INF prospect Andrew Salas for $3.7 million.
Salas won’t turn 17 until March, but still is eligible for a massive bonus. if the last name sounds familiar, he’s the brother of Ethan Salas; one of the top prospects in the sport at the catching position. Andrew offers a chance to hit for a high average and is viewed as a strong defender who could end up at shortstop or in the outfield. He won’t be ready for MLB action for several years.
