Phillies signed first-round pick OF Justin Crawford.
Jim Callis of MLB.com says that Crawford's signing bonus will be $3.8948 million, which is exactly $100,000 more than the assigned slot value for the No. 17 overall pick of $3.7948 million. Carl's son was taken from the high school ranks and figures to take a while to develop, but he's an interesting talent.
Phillies selected Bishop Gorman HS (NV) OF Justin Crawford with the 17th pick of the 2022 MLB Draft.
Crawford is the son of former All-Star outfielder Carl Crawford. While not quite as fast as his dad, speed is the 18-year-old’s best tool, with a chance to be a major factor in stolen bases if he can get on enough to attempt them. He should be able to do that as he’s a left-handed hitter who makes hard contact all over the field, and an acumen that suggests he should be able to work count. His swing is not conducive to power, but he should have a chance to drive the baseball more with some swing changes. Crawford is a solid “real-life” prospect, but the chance to steal bases makes him even more intriguing for fantasy formats.
