Tim Tawa hit a solo homer in an extra-inning loss to the Rays on Thursday.
Tim Tawa went 1-for-3 with a solo homer against the Rays on Tuesday.
Tawa added a run for the Diamondbacks in the fifth inning with a solo homer off Zack Littell. It was his third home run of the season while adding two stolen bases over 36 plate appearances as he continues to fill in a second base for the injured Ketel Marte.
Tim Tawa is starting at second base and batting eighth for the Diamondbacks on Thursday against the Marlins.
Tawa homered in Wednesday night’s game, so it makes sense that the team keeps him in the lineup. The 26-year-old rookie has gone 4-for-18 in his first six games with one home run and five RBI. He remains off fantasy radars with Ketel Marte (hamstring) nearing a return and Jordan Lawlar inching closer to a call-up.
Diamondbacks recalled 2B/OF Tim Tawa from Triple-A Reno.
Tawa receives his first call-up to the majors in the wake of franchise cornerstone Ketel Marte landing on the injured list with a hamstring strain. The versatile 25-year-old has taken full advantage of the Pacific Coast League’s hitter friendly environment this season, hitting 391 (9-for-23) with three homers and two steals through six games. He offers enough power/speed combo potential to merit consideration in deeper mixed leagues as a speculative pickup, but he’ll have to produce if he’s going to stick around at the highest level beyond a couple weeks.
