Brewers placed LHP Connor Thomas on the 15-day injured list with left elbow arthritis.
Thomas made Milwaukee’s season-opening roster as a Rule 5 pick, but has been lit up to the tune of a bloated 20.25 ERA, 2.63 WHIP and 5/2 K/BB ratio across 5 1/3 innings (two appearances). It’s unclear how much time he’s going to miss at the moment.
Rule 5 pick Connor Thomas has made the Brewers’ Opening Day roster.
Thomas was picked up from the Cardinals back in the offseason as a Rule 5 pickup and Milwaukee is going to carry him on their season-opening roster. The 26-year-old was an intriguing prospect a couple years ago, but doesn’t offer a ton of fantasy appeal as a long reliever.
Brewers selected LHP Connor Thomas from the Cardinals with the 13th pick of the 2024 Rule 5 draft.
Cardinals LHP Connor Thomas cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Memphis.
Thomas, 25, was the Cardinals’ fifth-round pick in 2019. In 21 appearances and 17 starts in Triple-A this year, Thomas pitched to a 5.53 ERA in 94 1/3 innings. Thomas had a 3.10 ERA in Memphis back in 2021, and was subsequently protected him from Rule 5 draft last year. His stock has fallen since then, but he remains young enough to get back on track.
