Outfielder Justin Dirden, who was playing for the Brewers’ Double-A club, has decided to retire.
Dirden went undrafted in the five-round 2020 draft, signed with the Astros and put up big numbers in 2021 (.934 OPS in A-ball) and ’22 (.942 OPS between Double-A and Triple-A) to put himself on the radar. Unfortunately, he faltered in Triple-A last year and was released this spring. He was hitting just .177/.239/.241 in Double-A this season.
Brewers signed OF Justin Dirden to a minor league deal and assigned him to Triple-A Nashville.
Dirden was with the Astros during spring camp but was released prior to the start of the regular season. The 26-year-old outfielder slashed .231/.314/.396 with 10 homers and 42 RBI with Triple-A Sugar Land last season.
