Pirates optioned RHP Hunter Stratton to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Stratton gets the boot to make room for Liover Peguero. Stratton struggled in both appearances with the Pirates while allowing four runs over 1 2/3 innings, but it’s likely he’ll get a chance to help the PIttsburgh bullpen again in the coming weeks/months.

Stratton, who had a 3.58 ERA in 36 relief appearances for the Pirates last season, is joining the major league club for the first time in 2025. He might head back to Triple-A once Dennis Santana is activated.

Stratton was added to Pittsburgh’s 40-man roster last week, but didn’t end up making the club’s season-opening roster. The 28-year-old righty should be one of the first calls for the Pirates when they need a fresh relief arm.

Stratton was signed to a minor league contract with an invite to big-league camp, and now he’ll be a part of the Pittsburgh bullpen. He’ll likely pitch in the mid-to-late innings to begin the 2025 campaign.
