Mariners transferred 2B Ryan Bliss to the 60-day injured list.
Bliss will undergo surgery to repair a torn left biceps and is expected to miss at least 4-5 months. There’s a strong possibility his season is over. The procedural move frees up a spot on Seattle’s active roster for rookie Ben Williamson.
Ryan Bliss will undergo surgery to repair his torn left biceps.
The surgery will take place Friday, and Bliss is expected to miss 4-5 months while recovering. That could put the 25-year-old back near the end of the season, but there’s at least a decent chance he will miss the remainder of the 2025 season. It’s a big loss for the Mariners because of his defense at second, but Bliss wasn’t quite on the fantasy roster in redraft leagues.
Mariners placed INF Ryan Bliss on the 10-day injured list with a right biceps tear.
Bliss picked up the injury on an awkward swing in the extra-innings loss to the Astros on Tuesday. The 25-year-old is a big loss for the Mariners because of his defense at second base, but he hasn’t hit well enough just yet for fantasy relevance. Luis Rivas is up from Triple-A Tacoma, and he’ll likely be the utility option for Seattle while Bliss heals.
Ryan Bliss hit a two-run homer in a win Monday over the Astros.
Bliss picked up his first roundtripper of 2025 and gave the Mariners a 2-0 lead with a shot off Hayden Wesneski with Dylan Moore at first. The 25-year-old has looked strong with the glove and offers some stolen-base potential, but the lack of power — despite the homer Monday — makes him hard to recommend in redraft formats.
