Braves recalled LHP Dylan Dodd from Triple-A Gwinnett.
He takes Bryce Elder’s roster spot. Dodd was up briefly last month, but he never pitched. The 26-year-old has a 4.85 ERA and an 82/28 K/BB in 91 innings for Gwinnett this season. He can give the Braves length out of the pen if needed.
Braves optioned LHP Dylan Dodd to Triple-A Gwinnett.
The 26-year-old hurler was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett prior to Wednesday’s battle against the Reds. He’ll continue to hold down a rotation spot at the Triple-A level until the Braves have another need for a spot starter.
Dylan Dodd pitched two perfect innings Thursday versus the Rays.
Dodd was a surprise addition to the Braves’ season-opening rotation last year. This time around, he’s an afterthought, going unmentioned when the top four candidates for the fifth spot are listed. He definitely had a rough time last year, finishing with a 7.60 ERA and a 15/12 K/BB ratio in 34 1/3 innings (seven starts) for the Braves and a 5.65 ERA in 78 innings in the minors. There’s still hope for him as a bottom-of-the-rotation guy, but it’s unlikely that he’ll be able to make up enough ground this spring to stick.
