Clarke is now hitting .284/.442/.407 with seven stolen bases in 25 games at Triple-A. Clarke also plays good defense in center field, which makes him a little bit more likely to push for a call-up than fellow outfield prospect Colby Thomas, who is hitting .300/.361/.547 with eight home runs in 36 games. Thomas is more of a corner outfielder, so Clarke could be more likely to push JJ Bleday in center field if the veteran doesn’t get hot soon.

The A’s outfield is getting incredibly crowded with talented young players. Tyler Soderstrom has shifted to the outfield alongside Lawrence Butler and JJ Bleday, but Denzel Clarke is also waiting in the wings at Triple-A and slashing .295/.426/.455 with 10 RBI and two steals in 13 games. Clarke also had 13 home runs and 36 steals at Double-A last year while playing strong defense in center field, so he could push Bleday this summer if the 27-year-old doesn’t start picking up the production a bit.

Clarke is knocking on the door for a call-up after hitting .269 with 13 home runs and 36 steals in 116 games at Double-A last season. He has also started off 2025 well, going 5-for-13 (.385) in four games. He’s also the only outfielder on the Triple-A roster who is currently on the Athletics’ 40-man roster, which means he could be the next man up should the big league club need an outfielder.

Clarke will likely be an up-and-down outfielder for the A’s in 2025. Hoglund and Cusick both have a chance to make appearances as well.
