Marlins sent RHP Xzavion Curry outright to Triple-A Jacksonville.
Curry passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment last week. The 26-year-old righty has made three relief appearances this season for Miami and figures to stick around as extra organizational depth.
Marlins designated RHP Xzavion Curry for assignment.
Curry gets the boot from the roster after Edward Cabrera (blister) came off the injured list, and they used the 40-man roster to select the contract of Rob Brantly. Curry will hit the waiver wire, and could be of interest for pitching-needy organizations.
Marlins selected the contract of RHP Xzavion Curry.
Curry didn’t make the team out of spring training and wasn’t even on the 40-man roster, but that only lasted a few days into the regular season. With Valente Bellozo being optioned to the minors, Curry is likely to have a spot in Miami’s rotation, though he doesn’t offer much fantasy value. Brett de Geus was designated for assignment to make room for Curry on the 40-man roster.
Xzavion Curry hurled four scoreless innings in his Grapefruit League start against the Astros on Saturday.
Curry, 26, allowed three hits with one walk and one strikeout. Far from a dominant outing, but an effective one, regardless. Curry has a good chance to open the season in the Marlins’ rotation because of their plethora of pitching injuries, but there’s very little fantasy upside in his right arm, respectfully.
