A little bit of a surprise as Roberts was effective for Chicago at the end of the 2024 season. He had a 6.75 ERA in the Cactus League, however, and Roberts will now likely be an up-and-down option for the Cubs in 2025.

Roberts provides the Cubs with a fresh arm heading into Tuesday’s game against the Reds. The 27-year-old righty has tossed six scoreless appearances in seven appearances this season a the highest level.

Roberts was sent out in-between games of Saturday’s doubleheader against the Cardinals as the Cubs looked to add a fresh arm to their bullpen. The 27-year-old hurler should get another chance with the big-league club at some point in the second half of the season.
