2025 Player Outlook
Injuries derailed his 2024 campaign, as he tallied just 104 plate appearances across three MiLB levels. Lawlar has the skills and prospect pedigree to force his way into the infield picture in Arizona, where he could wind up a significant power and speed contributor.

Jordan Lawlar is not in the lineup for Wednesday’s contest against the Giants.
Lawlar started at shortstop and went 0-for-3 on Tuesday in his season debut. The 22-year-old is expected to split time with starter Geraldo Perdomo at shortstop moving forward. He’ll also spell veterans Ketel Marte and Eugenio Suárez at second and third base respectively, a couple times per week. He should be rostered in all fantasy formats on the basis of his power/speed upside potential.
Jordan Lawlar is at shortstop and batting eighth on Tuesday against the Giants.
Lawlar will make his highly-anticipated season debut on Tuesday night at Oracle Park in place of veteran Geraldo Perdomo after compiling an astronomical 336/.413/.579 with 23 extra-base hits and 13 steals over 37 games this season for Triple-A Reno. The 22-year-old top prospect is expected to make four-to-five starts per-week, splitting time between shortstop, second base and third base, according to Arizona general manager Mike Hazen. He’s worthy of a speculative roster spot in all fantasy formats as a result of his immense power/speed upside potential.
Diamondbacks recalled SS Jordan Lawlar from Triple-A Reno.
Lawlar returns to the majors for the first time since the late stages of the 2023 campaign after hitting .336/.413/.579 with 23 extra-base hits and 13 steals over 37 games this season for Triple-A Reno. The 22-year-old top prospect projects as an instant five-category fantasy impact contributor in a versatile multi-position role, splitting time between shortstop, second base and the hot corner, for one of the most potent lineups in baseball. He figures to encounter some initial turbulence as he acclimates to everyday life at the highest level, but he’s one of the most talented prospects in baseball with real power/speed upside potential. He should be rostered in all fantasy formats.
Arizona Republic’s Nick Piecoro reports that the Diamondbacks are calling up their top prospect, INF Jordan Lawlar.
Earlier on Sunday, Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo mentioned that the team could find at-bats for Lawlar, and he wanted impact bats in the lineup. Now he’ll get another one with Lawlar, the fourth-ranked prospect in baseball according to MLB Pipeline. The 22-year-old slashed .336/.413/.579 with six home runs and 13 steals in 37 games at Triple-A Reno this season. Lovullo mentioned that Lawlar would likely start by playing four games a week at various positions around the infield when the team allows Eugenio Suarez, Geraldo Perdomo, or designated hitter Pavin Smith to rest. That makes it a little tougher to roster Lawlar in weekly lineup leagues, but he has the talent to hit himself into a bigger role now that he’s up.
