2024 Player Outlook
2023 Recap: Perez started the year where expected, in Double-A, but finished it with a lot more innings in the majors than expected. His 91.1 innings in Miami were spectacular, especially for a 20-year-old and one who skipped Triple-A. Perez posted a 3.15 ERA (3.66 xERA, 3.94 SIERA), while striking out 28.9-percent of batters with a 20.6-percent K-BB%. Combined between Double-A and MLB, the 6’8” righty posted 128 combined innings before being slowed down late in the year due to joint inflammation.
2024 Outlook: The youngster has a remarkable arsenal that makes him an ace in the near future. Couple that with his size and control and he’s a daunting match-up for opposing hitters. In 2024, we can expect Miami to still limit his innings a bit, somewhere in the 140 range after coming back from injury. Expect the K/9 rate to be in the 10s but due to his higher-than-average HR/9 rate (in the 1.25 range) his ERA and ratio might take a jump up this year keeping him in the SP3-SP4 range for another season for fantasy.
