Wiemer had a decent spring, going 10-for-38 (.263) with two home runs and three steals in 44 plate appearances; however, he also struck out 15 times and walked just six. The 26-year-old has flashed intriguing power and speed since he debuted with the Brewers in 2023, but he has always struck out a bit too much and has not yet been able to stick on an MLB roster.

The Reds landed Wiemer in the deadline deal that sent Frankie Montas to the Brewers at the end of July, but they gave him just one plate appearance at the big-league level and have now shipped him off to the Royals. The 25-year-old has plenty of tools and covers a ton of ground in the outfield, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see him crack the Royals’ Opening Day roster in 2025, even if it’s in a reserve role.

The Reds got Wiemer from the Brewers in the Frankie Montas trade, but they wound up giving him just one major league plate appearance (he walked). Considered a top-100 prospect two years ago, he wasn’t very successful in the majors in 2023 or Triple-A last year. Still, he’s worth a spot on the 40-man, even if he doesn’t project as a regular at this point.
