2024 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: After going 0-7 in eight appearances for the Phillies, things didn't get much better for Falter in Pittsburgh, as he posted a 5.58 ERA, 2.23 HR/9, and 1.41 WHIP with the Pirates. He generated a solid 33.3 percent O-Swing rate across the entire 2023 season, but just a 7.9 percent swinging strike rate. For a frame of reference, the O-Swing rate was above league average for a starter (32.1%), but his swinging strike rate was below league average (10.8%). It's tough to generate strikeouts without missing bats, and only his changeup posted a whiff rate above 21 percent, and that is his least used pitch. 

2024 Outlook: He allows a lot of contact and can't generate a bunch of whiffs, significantly lowering his fantasy appeal. He has a spot in the Pittsburgh rotation, but he shouldn't have one on your fantasy team. Falter will post a subpar strikeout rate with an ERA of 4.50 or higher in 2024.
