Athletics placed RHP J.T. Ginn on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to April 25, with right elbow inflammation.
Ginn heads to the injured list just a couple days after allowing three home runs over 3 2/3 innings on Thursday against the Rangers. No word yet on how much time he’s going to miss. The 25-year-old righty has recorded a serviceable 4.61 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 15/6 K/BB ratio across 13 2/3 innings (three starts) this season at the big-league level.
J.T. Ginn allowed three runs over 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Rangers on Thursday.
J.T. Ginn picked up a loss Friday to the Brewers while allowing three runs over 4 2/3 innings with seven strikeouts.
J.T. Ginn held the Mets to one run with six strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings to earn the win on Saturday.
Ginn got the call to start after two excellent outings in Triple-A and was outstanding in his season debut for the Athletics. He held the Mets scoreless through five innings before Brandon Nimmo took him deep for a solo homer in the sixth. The 25-year-old right-hander scattered three more hits and two walks while striking out six. Ginn’s fastball was notably higher at 94 mph, up from his 92 mph last season. That improvement and the early results certainly warrant some interest in deeper leagues. He’s currently lined up for a start against the Brewers in Milwaukee on Friday.
