DeLoach was unclaimed after being designated for assignment. The 26-year-old will likely be a starting option for Triple-A Charlotte, but will need to be added back to the 40-man roster in order to help the White Sox.

The White Sox brought back Jacob Amaya off waivers from the Orioles, so they needed a spot on the 40-man roster and decided to part ways with DeLoach. The 26-year-old hit .209/.293/.328 in 75 plate appearances with the White Sox but fared much better at Triple-A with a .287/.375/.410 slash line with six home runs and 20 stolen bases in 97 games.

The homer accounted for the White Sox’s lone run of the game. DeLoach has five hits, all of them for extra bases, in his last three games, putting him at .217/.288/.350 in 66 plate appearances overall. It’s not much, but after being buried behind Dominic Fletcher for much of the year, he should be earning himself some consideration for opening next spring ahead of Fletcher on the depth chart. Of course, it’ll mostly be moot if the White Sox decide to bring in a mediocre veteran for right field this winter.

DeLoach went 3-for-22 in his brief time with the White Sox this summer. The outfielder gets another shot at the majors with rosters expanding. Yes, the White Sox count as an MLB team still.
