Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Jordan Westburg (hamstring) suffered a setback in his recovery from a hamstring strain.

Westburg has now stopped running and will focus on resting his hamstring before continuing his progression again. That makes the timeline for the 26-year-old very nebulous. He’ll need to ensure his hamstring feels strong again before beginning to start running again, and then his hamstring will need to respond well to running before the Orioles even think about beginning a rehab assignment. At this point, it feels like a mid-June return might be the best-case scenario for Westburg.

Westburg has already reported to Triple-A Norfolk and will spend the next few days working out there before getting back into game action. The 26-year-old third baseman has been on the shelf since April 28 recovering from a mild left hamstring strain. It certainly seems like he could be back in Baltimore at some point next week, which would likely push top prospect Coby Mayo back to the minors

Westburg is making steady progress towards returning to Baltimore’s lineup and is probably getting close to kicking off a minor league rehab assignment in the coming days. The 26-year-old infielder has been on the shelf since April 28 with a left hamstring strain. His return would almost certainly push top prospect Coby Mayo back to the minors, which is a variable fantasy managers need to consider when putting together FAAB bids this weekend.

Not great. Westburg winds up hitting the shelf after an MRI on Monday revealed a strain. No word yet on how much time he’s going to miss, but fantasy managers should anticipate a multi-week absence, even if it’s on the milder side. The 26-year-old infielder was just starting to settle into a groove at the plate, hitting .310 (9-for-29) with one homer and two RBI over his last seven games. It’ll veteran Ramón Urías taking over at the hot corner in his absence.
