2025 Player Outlook
An abysmal start to the season earned Torkelson a trip back to the minors, but things were better upon his return to the big leagues. Over his last 151 plate appearances of the season, Torkelson slashed .248/.338/.444 with six home runs, six doubles, and 19 RBI. The walk rate was strong upon his return, but the same can't be said for his strikeout rate, as he struck out 32.5 percent of the time (24.3 K% prior to his demotion). Admittedly, I don't love his ADP at this juncture, but it was just two years ago in 2023 when he swatted 31 home runs with a .446 SLG. The talent is there, but the consistency has eluded him, making him a high-ish risk, high reward pick.

Spencer Torkelson connected on a solo homer in a loss to the Angels on Saturday.
Torkelson got the Tigers on the board in the eighth inning with a solo blast off an otherwise excellent Kyle Hendricks. Torkelson has now gone deep twice in the four-game series, and 10 times over the first 33 games of the season. The .233 average leaves a bit to be desired, but just seeing Torkelson drive the baseball is a relief for those who invested heavily in him in dynasty/keeper leagues.
Spencer Torkelson went 1-for-5 with a two-run homer on Thursday as the Tigers rallied to beat the Angels 10-4 in the opener of their four-game series in Los Angeles.
Torkelson had been 0-for-4 on the evening before victimizing Garrett McDaniels for a 386-foot (102.9 mph EV) two-run shot in the ninth inning that extended the Tigers’ lead to 10-4. Torkelson has been an integral part to the Tigers’ hot start to the 2025 season, slashing .239/.353/.549 with a team-leading nine homers and 26 RBI.
Spencer Torkelson is on the bench for Wednesday’s game against the Astros.
This seems like just a routine day off for Torkelson. Colt Keith will start at first base and bat fifth, with Kerry Carpenter sliding into the DH spot.
Spencer Torkelson hit his eighth homer Saturday as the Tigers topped the Orioles 4-3 in the first game of a doubleheader.
The Tigers won the game despite being outhit 11-8 and outhomered 2-1. Torkelson’s homer off Cionel Pérez in the seventh was his second 387-foot flyball of the day. Fortunately, this one was hit to the right part of the ballpark and made it over the wall in right-center. His average has slipped in recent days — he’s in 3-for-19 in his last five games — but the power isn’t going anywhere.
