2025 Player Outlook
Carpenter missed a big chunk of the season due to inflammation in his spine, limiting him to just 87 games played. However, it would have been exciting to his numbers over a full season, because he slashed .284/.345/.587 with 39 XBH (18 HRs) across 296 plate appearances. His .107 average and .408 OPS against southpaws was putrid, and it seems likely Detroit looks elsewhere against left-handed pitching in the outfield. However, when a righty is on the mound, you can guarantee he'll be in the lineup, and last year's 17.7 percent barrel rate and 46.4 percent hard hit rate is conducive to noteworthy offensive production. Health willing, we get a full season from Carpenter, and if that happens, Carpenter's propensity to make hard contact makes a 25-home run season very possible, and in the heart of the Detroit order, I'm not ruling out the likelihood he hits .265 with 25 home runs and 80+ RBI.
